The 50th anniversary of the 1964 World’s Fair in Queens brings renewed attention to the iconic but decaying towers. The city estimates it’ll cost $14 million to demolish them, or $70 million to restore.
Some people say the pavilion could become a concert venue again, or a space to rent out for graduations, art exhibits, and trade shows. Others want to reopen the observation tower and include a restaurant with a view.
